Eco Trail focus on exhibitors like Byron & Byron, who have ecologically produced products. Recycled materials, fair-trade and sustainability are all factors that are included in the criteria for an eco-friendly product.
Byron & Byron has concentrated on manufacturing top end quality products, with in mind the idea of keeping the usage of the woods low. Our woods come from different Sustainable Source.
Byron & Byron started supporting the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in the Sabah region of Malaysian Borneo.
We donate a portion of each catalogue sold at Design Interiors 2008 to the Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre. Funds generated by Byron & Byron are channeled via the Sepilok Orangutan Appeal UK with official charity status in the UK and the first and only NGO to be recognized by the Malaysian Government.
Byron & Byron do not use any Palm Oil extracts in their products and does not intend to make any use of it in the future.
We are confident that we can generate sufficient interest and funds for this exciting project.
Byron & Byron also provide awareness towards the plight of the Orangutans in all their client email exchanges, plus via their regular newsletters sent to thousands of customers.
- Orangutans and their natural habitat are being threatened due to expanding palm oil plantations.
- Just ten years ago the Orangutan population was around 27,000, today it could be as low as 15,000.
- The Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre in the Malaysian Sabah District of North Borneo was founded in 1964, with the purpose of rehabilitating orphan orangutans.
- The site is 43 sq. kilometers of protected land at the edge of the Kabili Sepilok Forest Reserve.
- Today around 60 to 80 orangutans are living free in this reserve.
