Marrying a classical shape with a contemporary detail lifts a design from the humdrum to the exceptional. Byron & Byron’s Utility Collection of curtain poles and finials is made of a mixture of solid oak or walnut and polished brass, chrome or brushed nickel. There are three shapes of finial, one in metal and two in wood: the metal finial is called an end cap; the wooden finials are a sphere and a spool. You just want to reach out and touch them, especially the spool, which has the contrasting texture of rope wrapped around it.

What makes the Utility Collection look fresh and contemporary is the use of polished brass, chrome or brushed nickel brackets and curtain rings, with the end cap or the base of the finials in the same metal. It’s a simple design which has been discreetly updated and allows the quality of the materials used to shine through.
