How to fit bay curtain poles

The great thing about bay curtain poles is that they are remarkably easy to fit. Firstly, it’s important to get all the tools that are required for this uncomplicated task. These are: a screwdriver, pliers, a drill, a hexagonal key and a spirit level. To begin with you must mark the centre of the wall where your bay curtains pole will be placed. Therefore, measure the length of the bay window and mark the wall where the measurement is halved. This is where the central bracket will be fixed.

Drill a hole in the wall at the centre point of the bay window. This needs to be at least 150mm deep and 10mm in diameter. Dismantle the central bracket and screw the spigot onto the back of the bracket and then insert into the previously drilled hole. The spigot must not be shorter then 100mm. To make sure the central bracket is straight, check with a spirit level and fix the supporting screws onto the installed central bracket.

You also need a central bracket fitting on the pole. Place the dismantled bracket onto the centre of the pole and mark where the screws will be. You will then simply need to drill holes onto the pole where you marked it. Once you have done this you can then fit the central bracket onto the pole by placing it where the holes are and using screws to it into place.

In order to fit the end brackets you simply dismantle them and repeat the same procedure that is used for the central bracket installation. However, you must remember to put the rings on the pole before you do this. The great thing about Metamorph’s bay curtain poles is that they have a nylon strip that enables the rings to glide on easily.

Once you have fitted the end brackets on the pole you then rest the pole on the central bracket and loosely secure it with a bolt. Mark the holes where you are going to drill in order to install the end brackets and ensure that the pole is straight. Fix the side brackets before tightening the bolts and the central bracket. To finish off, fix the finials onto the ends of the pole making sure that you have placed the final ring between the bracket and the finial.
